Studying

The university workload can be daunting; with a number of essays, presentations and exams to research and complete, it is not uncommon to feel overwhelmed and stressed! To help tackle these anxieties, we have listed a number of resources to help with your studies, keeping you organised and focused:

  • Firstly, it is important that you contact your module tutor or personal tutor if you are struggling with your studies. It is crucial that they are aware of your situation and can also provide you with some advice and tips on how to best tackle your workload. A problem shared is a problem halved

  • Concerning exams, we would recommend interacting with your fellow peers in your course and putting together revision sessions and workshops. This allows you to better manage your time and learn together, whilst also providing you with an opportunity to build a rapport with other students and make new friendships.

  • Make sure you are organised! Throughout the year, keep your notes in order and file any relevant handouts you receive in class. There is nothing worse than starting your revision with a scramble of notes and no sense of organisation!

  • Your university will also provide you with academic resources. For instance, at UCL we had access to a Writing Workshop and we could book sessions to help with our academic writing. So make sure you are aware of these resources and utilise them!

  • The Guardian have provided students with their best revision tips. Whilst some may appear obvious, such as planning ahead and revising early, it is crucial that you actually practice these tips and and show people just what you can achieve!

  • Apps such as Quizlet are a great resource, in which Quizlet allows you to create flashcards to help with revision - another benefit being you can access them through your phone, a much better alternative to carrying 100s of paper flashcards with you wherever you go.

  • Please get in touch if there is a website or app you would suggest highlighting to help with studying. We will endeavour to include your recommendations on this page!

All the best of luck with your studies! You can do it!

xx
