Things to Do

Now, let's get into the more exciting stuff! As a student, you can sometimes struggle knowing what to do in your leisure time. This might be because you are not overly familiar with your new setting and what your current home has to offer, or simply because there are so many things to choose from that it is hard to narrow it down! We have put together a few of our own suggestions applicable to every university student, as well as others that are relevant to students studying in London:

  • Check out your university's webpage and Student Union - they will provide you with a great starting point, listing what things you can do and what places you can visit whilst you are studying there. Your Student Union will detail the different societies

on offer - of which societies are a great way to meet new people and participate in their different events -, as well as volunteering opportunities and a variety of fitness activities.

  • Time Out London is a great place to start, as are the Londonist and Secret LDN Facebook pages.

  • If you’re a culture nerd, invest in a Student Art Pass for £5 – this will grant you discounted entry – or sometimes even free entry – to galleries, museums and more! Here is the website

  • DesignMyNight is a great website for finding club nights near you.

  • Apps:

    • DUSK is a fantastic app that will offer you a free selected drink in various bars in London! All you have to do is show your screen to the bartender. HINT: use the referral code ‘SNORMAN5’ for a bonus ;)

    • DICE is another great app for finding gigs and small club nights on near you. I’ve found a lot of great free gigs on this app!
